Reese's favorite show over this year has been Goldie and Bear, which is on Disney Jr. It is so fitting since she's one of our little blondies, we refer to the kids as the bear cubs, and over the last year the youngest two have had their own little adventures while the bigs are at school. I even started referring to them as Goldie and Bear. It just made sense, if we were going to do a party to do something combined, and we used this show as the theme.
Breakfast foods were on the menu because they fit perfectly with so many characters:
Humpty Dumpty eggs and "Wall"ffels
3 Little Pigs Hash Brown Casserole (hash browns for straw, ham cubes for bricks, and bacon strips for sticks)
Just Right Porridge (and as Todd told everybody, "it's really oatmeal!")
Straw"bear"ies
Jack & Jill's Pail of Water Bottles
The cakes were decorated with Honey and Chocolate Teddy Grahams to represent Goldie and Bear. We did a separate singing and candle blowing for each. Copper dug into his cake like a champ! Seems like babies usually smash the cake on their 1st birthday, but he just picked up the whole thing and acted like he knew what to do.
We even found a cute dress for Reese with colors like Goldie's dress, and we found a cute shirt for Copper that says "Grandma's house this way, Big Bad Wolf that way."
We pulled lots of different chairs from around Mayfair to represent the Goldie trying to find the perfect chair, and played musical chairs.
We set out toothpicks, pretzels, marshmallows, and legos, and challenged the kids to make a house for the 3 Little Pigs. At the end "Big Bad" the blow dryer wolf would try and blow their house down, and see whose was still standing.
We also had Humpty Dumpty egg balloons and cardboard blocks, and a little play house area with teddy bears and puppets for story time.
The kids all got to go home with a book, and Little Red Riding Hood Goodies.
This also gave us the perfect opportunity to meet up with some of our OK people we hadn't gotten a chance to visit with all in one place. It was so heartwarming to have so many people we have missed over the last year to be together. We even had so much help cleaning up, it really did feel like being back in a familiar place.
Reese said she had a great time at her party, which was really the ultimate goal for me. Copper loved having the freedom to roam all over the gym, so I think it was a win for him too. Just wish I had gotten better photos.
